R U OK? Day 2022
- On September 6, 2022
Founded by Gavin Larkin in 2009 after losing his father to suicide, R U OK? Day has one simple and important goal; inspiring people to ask a simple question that could save a life: R U OK?
We know that the workplace is an important place to foster better mental health, so here are some of our favourite suggestions to help you get involved in the workplace for R U OK Day, this Thursday September 8th.
1. Ask a Colleague – R U OK?
This may be the hardest one, but it’s the most important – and the best way you can get involved! Commit to asking just one person in your workplace how they are. The below steps are a simple guide for how to ask the question, and what you can do to help when your colleague wants to talk. R U OK provide a more detailed guide you can download here on their website.
2. Host a Workplace or Team Building Event
If you haven’t already organised a talk, presentation or workshop for this Thursday – that’s okay!! There are so many ways to bring your team together in the workplace for team building.
For something simple, R U OK are live streaming a free presentation at 10am (AWST) this Thursday 8th September. Register to tune in and hear from R U OK? CEO and guests sharing conversation tips and personal stories.
For something more interactive, team activities and challenges are a great way to build connections and get some conversations going in your workplace. Friendly down time with activities creates a great atmosphere to start building relationships and a more supportive environment for sharing.
