Prioritising Employee Health with Pacific Energy and Magnetic People
- On May 16, 2022
WA company Pacific Energy recently engaged HR consultants Magnetic People Pty Ltd to develop a people and culture strategy that would “facilitate and support a healthy, happy workforce”.
As part of this strategy Magnetic People surveyed staff and found the majority were seeking more education and awareness on mental health, and leaders wanted more development on fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
With this feedback in mind, Magnetic People developed a strategy that encompassed several new initiatives around workplace health, including the placement of IVS Wellness Stations.
This year we have launched six Wellness Station vending machines across Pacific Energy’s sites in WA so far.
Magnetic People provided a fantastic write up outlining their strategy and methods on their website, you can read it here: Empowering Employee Wellness through non-Traditional methods.

Why Wellness Stations?
Magnetic People describe the Wellness Stations as “vibrant vending machines filled with mental health activities, resources and healthy consumables to improve general mental health and happiness.”

The point of use machines provide Pacific Energy employees with self-service access to a range of wellbeing tools and resources including:
- Mental health programs developed by WA based Happiness Co
- Healthy consumables from local suppliers, and;
- Engagement and wellbeing tools such as conversation cards, Jenga and mindfulness books
“The Stations have been a huge hit. Employees are regularly vending healthy consumables and downloading the mental and physical health support programs available. The machines themselves look great within the workshops and continue to create a healthy dialogue amongst workmates in relation to mental health and wellness, contributing to the team’s overall happiness.”

Launching the Wellness Stations on site

To help introduce the Wellbeing strategy and Wellness Stations to employees each site had a launch event designed to be fun, interactive and inspirational. Mental health advocate guest speaker Julian Pace from Happiness Co provided a keynote on the importance of preventive mental health awareness, followed by an overview of how to use the machines and programs to help manage stress and anxiety.
All employees have been allocated a monthly allowance to access resources inside the Wellness Station, in addition to free access to the mental health programs and podcasts that are wholly subsidised by Pacific Energy.
So far the feedback on the Wellness Stations has been overwhelmingly positive from both employees and the leadership team at Pacific.
Industrial Vending Systems are pleased to support these fantastic organisations who are making employee health and wellbeing a real priority and supporting Mental Health awareness in the workplace.
